What does a designer-turned-chef-turned-UX-designer bring to the table?
I’m Elin Björnström, a designer with a strategic mind and a sharp eye for detail. I’ve been sweating it out in fast-paced kitchens for a decade, working as a chef, sous chef, and kitchen manager. And before that you could find me sweating almost as much studying graphic design at Berghs School of Communication.
Somewhere between tight dinner services and tight grids, I realized that the best experiences—whether on a plate or in an interface—are built on instinct, precision, and knowing exactly when to follow the rules—and when to break them.
Taking this scenic route into design has taught me how to solve problems fast, adapt on the fly, and execute under pressure. The culinary world is a tough teacher—every dish is an instant user test. Didn’t work? Adjust, improve, and serve again. It should always feel effortless, but never happen by accident.
That mindset now fuels my work in UX and product design, turning insights into strong concepts, sharp design, and seamless experiences. Whether it’s UX, UI, or concept development, I bring a mix of curiosity, sharp thinking, and hands-on execution—always with the goal of making things better
Lately, I’ve been diving deeper into AI and Prompt Design for UX/UI, exploring how smart automation and conversational interfaces can enhance the design process. It’s an exciting space where technology meets human behavior—and I love being at that intersection.
Let’s talk design, AI, or just why every good idea starts with a well-timed snack.
